Mayor Blakespear and the current City Council have made the voter-rejected "Measure U" our housing element by upzoning 15 properties to R30.
We've enjoyed the protection of Prop A since 2013 (?). It's because of Prop A, that Encinitas doesn't have 5-story buildings along El Camino Real and Coast Highway 101. But the Mayor and Council want higher density and are now suing the citizens to invalidate Prop A.

5-0 votes - since Jan 1st of this year, the Mayor and City Council have voted as a unanimous bloc 95% of the time - with Joe Mosca and Kellie Hinze voting with Mayor Blakespear 100% of the time.
We can have safe bike paths, sidewalks, and more parking without borrowing $30 million and diverting another $20 million from other important projects.
Encinitas' Open Space Acquisition Fund robbed of $590k, then renamed “opportunity fund”. The money went to Leucadia Streetscape project.
